Top Ten (Tuesday) Books I Resolve to read in 2013
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that combines lists and books. This weeks topic is... 10 Books I resolve to read in 2013.
1. Code Name Verity - I read half of this and cried. A lot. I've been afraid of reading the end.
2. The Secret History - This book seems intimidating, but is supposed to be awesome.
3. An Abundance of Katherines - It is the only John Green book that I haven't read.
4. Little Brother - Supposed to be awesome and has been on my TBR for years.
5. Specials - Seriously, why have I not finished this series yet?
6. Les Miserables - I've always imagined a day when I would read this in the original French... however, I'm planning on doing the audio translation, which I picked up for 5 bucks last week.
7. Game of Thrones - I got 30% done with this last year, but it was depressing how long the book took to read. This year, I'm going with the audio. And yes, I already started this, but I have to have at least one book on this list that I am guaranteed to cross off.
8. Days of Blood and Starlight - This is supposed to be amazingly well done. I have the e-book and the e-audio.
9. The Magician King - Because The Magician's was awesome.
10. The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing, Traitor to the Nation - Because John Green called it a "literal work of genius".
Happy new year! What books are you resolved to read this year?

I too have Days of Blood and Starlight waiting for me. Also, the first The Magicians (so much reading for 2013!!) Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteI have not read any of these though I do own Code Name Verity and should read it, I just don't know when.
ReplyDeleteAnd this is like the millionth and one post that I feel is shoving Daughter of Smoke and Bone in my face so I plan on getting to it early this year.
I definitely want to read Code Name Verity this year too, because everyone who's read it seems to rave about it! An Abundance of Katherines is great, parts of that book really had me laughing hard, so I hope you enjoy it!

Code Name Verity is on my list too. I'm also scared of crying :(
ReplyDeleteI read Specials, but not Extras. Specials was kinda the end of the series because Extras isn't narrated by Tally, but I still want to read it.
Really smart of you to go with the audio of Game of Thrones. I want to read that series too, but don't want to waste time chugging along through such a long book when I have so many other books to read.
And I wanted to read Octavian Nothing after what John Green said too! Should have put that on my list!

You are too funny. Here's my list:
ReplyDeleteThe Raven Boys. I started this and then had to stop when I got slammed with review books.
Shadow and Bone. Bought the audio!
Seraphina. Not such a fantasy person, but bought the audio!
Clockwork Prince.
I'm going to wait to read The Magician King until you do. I want to know if it's worth it. I'm OK with how The Magicians ended.
ReplyDeleteSpecials is good. The rest I'm dying to read as well. Great picks.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Years and happy reading!

I really loved An abundance of Katherines. It's very funny and smart.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy it :)
The Secret History was not on my radar before but I've added it to my TBR list now! Sounds really interesting!
ReplyDeleteI think I'll get to Les Mis too this year.
Great list! Happy New Year!
Code Name Verity is on my MUST read list this year, too. I've read too many good things about it to ignore.
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm back! I've missed your blog! Thanks so much for sticking with me even though I've been so absent these past few months.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! Yes, you must read An Abundance of Katherines, and finish the Uglies series! I LOVE that series! Uglies and Extras are my favorites. I just got Little Brother the other day, so I'll be reading it soon (hopefully). And I'll be reading Days of Blood & Starlight for book club soon.
Happy New Year!
Game of Thrones is on my list as well! Great picks :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my Top Ten!
So are you reading the full Les Mes or is it the abridged version? Because the full length has got to be like waaay long! I wish you luck either way!
ReplyDeleteI just finished Code Name Verity and it killed me. If you cried in the first you will SOB in the second half but its soooooo worth it. Best book I read in 2012!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Code Name verity is on my list to read this year too. It is actually sitting on my bookshelf right now. I loved the Uglies Series so I hope you enjoy Pretties and Specials (and Extras if you want to read the 4th in the series but it is more of a companion). Days of Blood and Starlight is on my list to read too. I'm curious about it and the second one that just came out. :) Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteGreat List, I should really make one of these! You should definitely read specials, I thought it was the best one of the series - so bubbly :)
ReplyDeleteI swear I thought you read Code Verity- but I need to read it too! Les Mis is good, but if I ever re-read it I would get the audio version. Great list of books, Steph!
