Top Ten (Tuesday) Books That Lived Up To the Hype

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that combines lists and books.  This weeks topic is... a freebie week, so I'm doing books that lived up to the hype.  These are a mix of super-hyped debuts and series that could have gone horribly, horribly wrong. As always, covers link to GoodReads.

And I think it's obvious that by "hype" I mean all of the expectations I created on my own for each book.  What book did you have overwhelming expectations for and it still blew you away?

  1. You know I have not yet read Ally Carter's series......guess I should, huh?? I also LOVED White Cat but haven't picked up the other books in the series. Gah I have a lot of reading catch up to play! :)

  2. I would go with TFIOS. I had a lot of expectations for that one and it was excellent!

  3. I am hoping one day that Scorpio Races will be a win for me too, although it helps that I loved The Raven Boys. I'd probably add Daughter of Smoke and Bones, the hype was huge and it just didn't sound like anything I'd like (plus, you know how I feel about "angel" books) but it literally blew me away! The sequel came out today and I can't believe I haven't bought it yet- off to correct that!

  4. Oddly enough the only book on your list that I had high expectations for was My Life Next Door, which did live up to my expectations.

  5. I love when books actually live up to their hype. I need to read The Vampire Academy books. I'm so scared I won't like them, though.
