A few weeks ago, I admitted that I had never read anything by Jane Austen and I wasn't particularly embarrassed or bothered by this. However, I am now firmly resolved to read Pride and Prejudice (I even bought the audio version during audible's classic bogo sale!). Why?
Because of this:
The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is a modernization of Pride and Prejudice for the information age. As far as I can tell (and I've never even watched the movie so I am pretty uninformed), it is following the story pretty accurately. Regardless, it is hilarious and I seriously can not stop watching it. And it kind of makes me want to make my own version with Gatsby.
Have you seen this??? Is there anything else out there like this that I should be watching?

ReplyDeleteHave not heard of this and at the conference I attended someone was telling me that John Green was doing some kind of Pride and Prejudice thing and I was like, what???
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Lizzie Bennet Diaries! Yes, Hank Green helped create this, and it is fabulous. I love Pride and Prejudice - it is my favorite book - but in the book I thought Lydia was so annoying (well, she is :) ) but I lvoe Lydia in the LBD. The actress is wonderful! Ly-Dee-Uh!!!! So glad you are enjoying it. New episodes go up every Monday (TODAY!!) and Thursday.

ReplyDeleteI have watched a few of these, but someday I'll sit down and watch them all from the beginning. Is it weird that I dislike watching vlogs and videos on my computer? It makes me restless...
ReplyDeleteAndrea revealed these videos for our book club a couple of months ago. I've watched a few episodes but I haven't kept up with it. If you ever make Gatsby I would totally watch it though! And I LOVED Pride and Prejudice. I am not a big fan of some of her other works but P&P is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these, too! And I've never read any Jane Austen before, either. But I have seen one of the movie versions of P&P, and I also saw Lost in Austen, which is a great BBC miniseries (I think). I have P&P in my TBR pile, and every time I watch an episode of LBD I want to read it ASAP! :D
