Top Ten (Tuesday) Romances For the Real World
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that combines lists and books. This weeks topic is... Top Ten Book Romances That You Think Would Make It In The Real World (outside the book). As always, covers link to GoodReads.
I thought I would have a lot more books here, but I just can't imagine some romances working in the real world. Yes, even Peeta and Katniss. Even Tris and Four. Real world... they break up. Please, nobody kill me.

As much as I love Tris and Four you are totally right, they would not survive in the real world. I feel this way about the majority of couples in books which is why I didn't make a list.
ReplyDeleteAwesome picks! I really want to read Anna Dressed in Blood. :)
ReplyDeleteYep, it is depressing but true. But I agree with you that some of the couples you list would make it. You pick a lot of contemporaries and those are the books where the couples tend to work on their relationships more, as opposed to dystopian fiction where the adrenaline is high all the time. Fun topic :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Samantha and Jase. :) They're so perfect together! They totally made my list. The only other of these I've read so far is Anna and the French Kiss and... I'm still not quite sure how I feel about Anna & Etienne! Maybe I need to do a reread! Lovely list. :)

Even the ghost relationships? Wow, I really am a pessimist.
ReplyDeleteI think so many couples in our books are thrown together under extraordinary circumstances and then we only get to see them for a brief time, so it's easy to imagine them making it. I prefer my romance without the reality of life's current divorce rate! ;) Honestly though, I'm digging how many ghosts made your list, because you know I'm down with my future offspring dating ghosts- no awkward talk of birth control and sexually transmitted diseases!
ReplyDeleteI agree about the Stephanie Perkins books but those are the only ones I read. At the point where I left off with Georgia Nicholson she had just broken up with the Sex God!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about Peeta/Katniss (I mean, there couple name could conceivably be KatPee, so really what future is there in that?) and Tris/Four. A lot of the relationships formed in crisis situations I question. All of the emotions are heightened by the fear and stress, and I think they form connections based on that and not who they really are day to day, so when things cool down, they won't have much to go on.
ReplyDeleteYes! Anna and Etienne and Lola and Cricket! I can totally see them lasting! And I haven't finished the Jessica Darling series yet (2 more to go!), but I really hope they would stay together in real life! I mean, their relationship really isn't perfect (especially in Charmed Thirds!), but it's realistic! Great picks. And yeah, I agree, Katniss and Peeta, while I want them to be together, I just don't think Katniss really needs any kind of relationship like that. I don't think she could handle any kind of relationship after all she had been through. And Four pissed me off in Insurgent so yeah, I don't want them to be together. :P
