Top Ten (Tuesday) Bookish Confessions

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that combines lists and books.  This weeks topic is... Top Ten Bookish Confessions (Anything! You dog ear, you hated a book  but said you loved it, you have $500 library fines...anything goes!).

1.  I've never read a Jane Austen novel.

2.  I used to buy books that I thought would make me look smart.

3. I judge people based on whether or not they like The Great Gatsby.

4.  I started journaling obsessively when I read the Jessica Darling novels.  In those early days, I probably journaled about Marcus as much as Jessica did.

5.  I learned the hard way not to google image search "Jessica Darling".

6.  I cried when I found out there would be two Jessica Darling middle grade novels.

7.  I liked Captains Courageous the first time I read it, but mostly because I had just seen the TV version and thought the actor was cute (I was young!).

8.  I totally geeked out over the first Twilight movie.

9.  I bought Withering Heights because Bella read it in one of the Twilight books.  And yes, I bought the one that was packaged to look like Twilight.  I still want to read it.

10.  I want literary tattoos.
This.  On my foot.
You can totally judge me for my list.

  1. 1. I do not lot The Great Gatsby. Sorry.

    2. I'm not a tattoo person, but getting a tattoo of The Very Hungry Caterpillar would be AMAZING!

    3. I might have been a bit excited about the first Twilight movie, too. I'm still obsessed with her hair in that movie, even though it was a partial wig.

  2. HAHAHAHAHA Googling characters! Crazy Camper at Young Adult Fiction and Whiskey Sours has totally googled Dimitri from Vampire Academy.

If I got a tattoo (which is not happening) it would be a quote from some wonderful book!

  3. I have tried really hard to read a Jane Austin novel, but just can't do it. I also didn't like the Great Gatsby, I don't know if you judge if they liked it or didn't.

  4. Oooo please get that tattoo! It would look awesome- if I was brave enough I might consider it :-P

I like your Twilight confessions- especially the Wuthering Heights one! Anything that gets more people reading that book is fine by me (it is wonderful)

  5. Now youre making me all nervous to read The Great Gatsby! I hope I like it. As for the tattoo? Do it, do it, do it. ;)

  6. That's why online shopping is so great. I used to stand in line at the bookstore thinking that the bookstore employee was judging my choices.
What comes up when you Google Jessica Darling? I'm scared to find out...

  7. # 3 makes me a little nervous because you know that I didn't love The Great Gatsby and only rated it 3 on goodreads...

  8. Hungry Caterpillar!!! (I think that is a great idea, by the way)

Great confessions - thanks for sharing!

  9. What is with all of you people not reading JA? SIGH

Yup. I still buy books that I think make me look smart, but I get them at Goodwill, so it's less expensive.

Do you want them to like or NOT like Gatsby?

Part of me REALLY wants to google image search Jessica Darling, but I WON'T. I should reread that. I love the first one, but it had been so long by the time I got to the next one I didn't care. ALL IN ONE GO.

I really liked Wuthering Heights, even though it's totally crazy!

  10. We should totally read Wuthering Heights together!

  11. I haven't read a Jane Austen novel either. But I plan on changing that soon! And I didn't LOVE The Great Gatsby, but I did really enjoy like, the last 1/3 of it. Can we still be friends? ;)

    I love #4, #5, and #6. :D

I want a tattoo, too, but I've always wanted a praying mantis tattoo because I just LOVE them. But now that I'm such a huge reader again (those crazy Dark Days!) I would love to have a literary tattoo as well. I love Kate's Harry Potter stars! BUT I'm such a wuss that I don't think I'll ever get a tattoo. Oh, well...

  13. Hilarious! I love the first three, but I strongly admonish you to read a Jane Austen. I've not read Jessica Darling books, though, so I've got no right to :)

  14. Ohhhh how I love Jessica Darling and Marcus. My favorite!

I have a "literary" tattoo and I love it! I say you should go for it! :D

  15. I don't blame you for judging people based on Gatsby. Sounds reasonable to me. Someday I will read the Jessica Darling series, but I promise to never google her name. I can see you totally geeking out about the first Twilight movie.

  16. You can totally judge me for not having read The Great Gatsby, if I can judge you for not having read Wuthering Heights. (I will say, I own like 3 copies of TGG and have always meant to read it, and I may have fibbed to a few people over the years and said that I'd already read it.) You need to get some Bronte and Austen in your system, they do nothing but wonders! Let me know if you ever seriously start WH, I'll put down whatever I'm reading and read TGG, and we can see who likes the other's classic pick best. (You can take that as an offer or a challenge, whatever gets you to it ;))
