Looks From Books: The Ghost and the Goth by Stacey Kade

I just finished Queen of the Dead, the second book in this series and I love these books.  The characters are so fun that I couldn't resist doing a Looks From Books post.

Alona Dare is a ghost trapped in her gym uniform, so the look below has two outfits.  On the left is what she is actually wearing in the book--white t-shirt, red shorts, and I threw in Mizuno's because they are my favorite brand of running shoe.

On the left is a look inspired by Alona's unfortunate gym uniform.  It's a summer look that also consists of the red shorts and white tee, but it's an outfit you wouldn't want to run in.  I threw in the silver jewelry because it is fun, while at the same time being shiny and cold. I would describe Alona the same way.  She can be a bit severe, but I love her.

Will Killian.  Sigh.  Love him.  I grabbed a black hoodie, black t-shirt, and the slogan that Alona says his t-shirt has.  Black chucks, and headphones so he can block out the voices of the dead with music.  I doubt he would wear fitted jeans, but I like men in fitted jeans... so... fitted jeans.  Will wears black and tunes the world out, but he's not really a goth.  But, again because I like it, I gave him a studded belt and leather cuff.

Finally... Mina.  A new character for the series.  Girl is intense.  Her entire life is wrapped up in containing ghosts and that comes through in her wardrobe.  Alona says something along the lines of it looks like she went shopping in a homeless person's cart.  Alona is a bit of a drama queen, but Mina certainly isn't fashionable.  Lots of pockets, lots of black--functionality for hunting ghosts--and a flashlight and huge bag for all her equipment.

  1. I LOVE this book! And I love this idea of creating 'character' clothes. Super cute.

  2. At first glance the red and white made me think this book was going to be about lifeguards. And I really like how long the jacket is in the last look!

    1. Nope... not lifeguards. Just an unfortunate gym uniform. Yeah, I love long hoodies!

  4. We may not share the same love for Odd Thomas but we definitely share the same love for these books. And I ALWAYS agree with the clothes you've chosen....so far anyway. ;)
