Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop

Blogging Question: Do you immediately write a review upon finishing a book or do you wait and write multiple reviews at once?
I try to write my reviews quickly.  I don't always succeed.  When I finish a book, I immediately set up my blog post -- structured review, rating, link to GoodReads.  Sometimes, I write the review immediately.  But, usually, it sits there for a while.  Once I draft my review, it sits there for a while longer.  I like to have several posts sitting there at any given time so that if I get busy, I still have a steady stream of reviews to post.  Once I'm ready to post, I edit my review, add a picture, and schedule the post.

Ideally, this would happen as I read, but I usually end up with a string of empty posts.  Right now I have at least two completely empty posts, two drafts of arcs that will post in September, and a half finished review.

  1. I have really thought about having some kind of template for my reviews... but I also tend to procrastinate so I worry that I won't remember the book well enough to answer every question on the template... but I love the way you do your reviews. Of course, now I need to go write some myself... ugh.

    1. I've found that having a template gives me specific things to think about when I'm trying to remember, but that's just me. :) I also based my template around the things that I pay attention to when reading. :)

  2. I set up my review when I start a book and I try to write them right away but sometimes it's hard to that. I've tried setting up some questions like you do but that did not go well at all. I prefer my randomness ;)

I am very jealous that you have all these extra reviews almost ready to go. I can't read the book I want because I'm trying to get ahead enough to do so.

    1. Ooooh, interesting. I think if I set it up first though, I would feel a lot of pressure to read it fast and then not read it. LOL.

I'm not super ahead right now. Not by a long shot. Been reading too many arcs!

  3. I love hearing how other people blog. When my real life isn't too busy, I try to schedule posts. But sometimes I do them at the very last minute.

I have a notebook where I write notes as I read -- things I want to mention in the review, reactions, etc. So if I don't get to the review right away, I won't forget what I wanted to say. I like having a few days between the time I finish writing the review and the time it runs, because I always think of things I want to change.

    1. I sometimes e-mail myself on my phone if I have something I want to remember when reading. That's the closest I get to note taking. And I sometimes write reviews last minute, but it really frustrates me as well.

  4. I'm pretty good to keep up with my reviews but lately I'm falling behind. Argh! Must remedy that!

  5. I have a shelf on goodreads for books I haven't reviewed yet so that I wont forget them. But I don't usually right reviews early. I need to. That way when I have months (like this one) where I'm not really in the "reviewing" kind of mood I will already have posts ready to go and that will help ease the pain. Right now I have like 6 books on that goodreads shelf that are just waiting for me to share with the world. Hopefully I'm going to get to a lot of them this next week!

    1. I had a bunch of books that I had in my queue, but I've gone through them as I read arcs I can't review for a couple months. Now I'm a little like... what do I do? I need to plan better. LOL.
