This Week's Best Writing Posts: 3/30-4/5
The Mistake's Writers Make by Veronica Roth. Wow. Just... wow. This post is all about being intentional as a writer and why it is important.
Henry Miller On How To Finish Your Novel by Joe Bunting.
Signs You Character Is Wasting His Potential by K.M. Weiland. This is actually one of my biggest pet peeves as a reader. I DO notice when you establish a character's strength ad nauseum in the beginning and then do nothing with it.
Seems So: Are Your Characters Making Misleading Assumptions? by Janice Hardy. I love the first person point of view. Very, very much. I love reading a story with a lens and trying to figure out if the narrator is reliable and what is happening vs. what the narrator thinks is happening.
Tricks To Creating A Page Turner by Joe Monroe. Some solid advice and I like his warning at the end, too: Tricks like these are never to be considered a substitute for solid, clean, professional writing. They are only tricks. But they work if used in the mix with all the other elements of a great story.
