Book: The Ghost and the Goth by Stacey Kade
Book Boyfriend: Will Killian
What does he look like?
As Jenny at Alternate Readality points out, the cover model is pretty much perfect.
As someone who has always loved guys in eyeliner, I like these pictures, too. But, if I'm being honest, they aren't what Will looks like, because these pictures are way too goth. Will is really only characterized as a goth because Alona doesn't know what a goth is.

My favorite thing about Will is how realistically male he is. I know, I know that's praise for the author but I wouldn't like him so much if he wasn't believable as teenage guy. He admires Alona's body but isn't stupid enough to let that completely control him. After all, Alona is REALLY annoying. He cares about the few people who are truly close to him and just wants to live a normal existence. Best of all he's sarcastic, and if there's one thing I find irresistible it's sarcasm. My thoughts: He is absolutely a realistic male. Being... not male... I tend to forget that realistic males are few and far between in YA books. I read about it all the time, but it's hard to really understand until you read a character as great as Will.
I love damaged characters that push everyone away except for a select few. Watching Alona worm her way into that position was one of the best parts of the book for me.
And sarcasm. Sigh. Sarcasm. Yeah, make my laugh, make me love.
Is he a keeper? Sorry, Jenny. We're running away together. Love him.
Whose book boyfriend are you sleeping with?

lol, Steph I love this post and meme!! I'm reading Underworld by Meg Cabot, so I'm sure John is some blogger's book boyfriend. And I have a feeling that if you sleep with Odd Thomas, my book boyfriend, even if you love him you'll send him back to me because he's as far away from goth as you can get!
ReplyDeleteI'm half way through The Ghost and the Goth and Will rocks. I feel a little sorry for him though, he got a raw deal!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I really didn't plan to read that series, but now I'm curious to see more of Will. :)
ReplyDeleteIf I said my answer was Christian Grey from Fifties Shades Grey...would you be worried? He's attractive, powerful, wealthy! I'm just saying...
ReplyDeleteFine, you can have him, but that's only because I have a team of hot soccer players in line first. ;)
ReplyDeleteWill is truly awesome! I'm glad we agree on this, even if it might mean war. ;)
I really need to read this book. I'm off to add it to my TBR list...
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I haven't heard of this book before, but I love any book that has a noteworthy guy in it. ;) No, I'm not going to BEA, I wasn't invited. I am going to be in the city that week, as an early 21st birthday present, so I'll be attending a few signings as well as doing all the touristy stuff. I know Gretchen McNeil is doing a signing on the 6th and I'm super stoked to meet her.
ReplyDeleteThis post is brilliant :D
ReplyDeleteWill is my boo <3, haha. I freakin loveddd himm so much and when there was a scene in book 1 with his Matrix shirt that said there is no spoon or something like that. I was a goner for him LOL. So realistic and he was really funny. I liked that he did like Alona but was irritated by her, all at the same time.
I need to get started on book 2 in preparation for Body & Soul.
Goth God kinda does resemble what I thought Will would be like.
omg I LOVE this post! I haven't read this series, but am definitely intrigued by it, especially after this post!
ReplyDeleteLol, oh no you didn't! :D
